Solutions Architecture

INCEPTION

Businesses are continuous seeking to innovate, gain a competitive advantage, streamline business processes or resolve problems on their current business model. The solutions architects play a lead role for the governance and design of complete end to end solutions from inception through delivery to handover. During the inception phase we can apply our wide range of technical knowledge and experience to help drive the technology strategy and work with Business Architects and Business Analysts to ensure what is proposed as solution is both fit for purpose and meets the business requirements. During this program/project phase we can help your organization with organize workshops with internal and external parties, conduct stakeholders and business owners interviews, functional and non-functional requirements gathering, produce the Requirements Traceability matrix (RTM), Arch Steer, Solution Heat Map, Initial Impact Assessment, project shirt size, High Level cost sheet, RACI model and materials to support project seed funds request .

Communication, Leadership and Negotiation

Organizations usually have complex needs or difficult problems which require solutions across different domains with complex environments and technology stacks. It is fundamental that the solutions architect to be an excellent communicator and comfortable at explaining and presenting both solutions and rationale for decision making to a technical and non-technical audience via brainstorms, whiteboard sessions, documentation and presentations. The Solutions architect must be a strong technical leader with a Can-do mentality. To be a successful Solution architect one needs to have high technical depth as well as high problem solving and negotiation skills to assure the purposed solution receives the consensus and buy-in across different organization's domains and stakeholders.
We have vast experience and demonstrable ability to understand business challenges and needs and apply technology to meet those needs. We can provide consultancy to determine and understand the dependencies that exist between technical and non-technical components across streams and explain the solutions to technical and non-technical audience.

Architecture and Governance

Armed with the ranked list of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, it is time to convert the SWOT analysis into a strategic plan. Your organization may be motivated to create a target architecture to save costs and reduce risks through application rationalization. We can create a synthesized short and long term plan that provides guidance how to reach business objectives and enhance processes and products. Here we will apply the best architecture frameworks to deliver solutions that cater for performance efficiency, Reliability, Security, Cost Optimization and Operation Excellence.

Delivery

After holding a strategic plan that delineates what has to be done, in what priority and how the plan's success will be measured, your organization will be looking to add technical depth to this plan. We can document how the technology investments can align with business goals and how the right technology enablers can support existing or future IT initiatives. After we gather the information to understand the 'as-is' state we will present you a recommendation based on Gartner's TIME model from the applications in your organization that you should decide either to Tolerate (T), Invest (I), Migrate (M) or Eliminate (E). Once the project is in motion, it is time for the Solution Architect to segment IT initiative with executable designs and epics. Here are some daily key competencies from Avilius Solutions Architects (list is by no means exhaustive):
1. Coordinate ongoing activities.
2. Translate the design concept to development teams and IT operations.
3. Defines the best-fit solution for existing problems and to support business vision.
4. Ensure technological risks and dependencies are accounted for and the solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.

Assurance, Automation and Accountability

The IT strategic planning needs to be breakdown into tangible delivery releases which will define the roadmap for executing the key actions required to meet IT strategic goals in alignment to the enterprise business model and goals.
